Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup semisweet or mint-flavored chocolate pieces (2oz)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 egg whites
- 1/8 tsp cream of tartar
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- chocolate curls
Directions
- In a heavy medium saucepan combine chocolate pieces, sugar, and water.
- Cook over medium heat until melted
- In a mixing bowl beat yolks slightly.
- Gradually sir in hot chocolate mixture into beaten egg yolks.
- Return all to saucepan. cook and stir over medium heat until slightly thick and bubbly.
- Reduce heat. Cook and stir 2 minutes more
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Cool slightly, stirring occasionally.
- in another bowl beat egg whites and cream of tartar with an electric mixer until tips form.
- Gradually add the sugar until peaks form.
- Fold into chocolate mix.
- beat whiping cream, fold into chocolate mixture.
- spoon into 4 dessert bowls. Cover and chill for 6-24 hours.
- dollop each serving w/ additional whipped cream and add chocolate curls
